Mauritanides 2016: SNIM will continue to invest

MauritanidesSNIM will continue to invest to increase its capacity and improve its competitiveness, said its member of Board & CEO Mr. Mohamed Salem OULD BECHIR who announced at the fourth edition of the forum-exhibition Mauritanides 2016, the upcoming launch of two projects.

These projects are related to the dredging of the channel of the ore port at Nouadhibou and the modernization of Guelb I plant at Zouerate for the beneficiation of iron ore.

"The harbor channel dredging project will significantly reduce the ore freight cost by receiving larger ore carriers," said OULD BECHIR during the opening ceremony of the forum October 11, 2016 in Nouakchott.

He said the Guelb I plant modernization project is intended "to secure the operating of this important facility and improve its cost."

Furthermore, Mr. Mohamed Salem OULD BECHIR recalled that the 2016 Mauritanides forum held this year in an environment marked by the sharp fall in commodities prices, "forcing operators to adopt unprecedented cost-reduction plans."

In this regard, he said that SNIM would continue its research to highlight new resources, while focusing its efforts on improving its competitiveness through:

  •  Costs reduction;
  •  Productivity increasing
  • Development of strategic projects.

"The development of partnership projects to accelerate the development of available resources is also a priority for SNIM," also stressed Mohamed Salem OULD BECHIR.
